Teaching Psychology
I began teaching graduate psychology courses in the San Francisco Bay Area in 1986, including at the California Institute of Integral Studies (CIIS), the Pacific Graduate School of Psychology (PGSP), and the California School of Professional Psychology (CSPP, Alliant University).
At the present time, I am teaching at Saybrook, Alliant, and Walden Universities. The courses that I have taught include research design, professional ethics, family therapy, group counseling and psychotherapy, psychology of sexuality, multicultural counseling, holistic psychology. In addition, I have also served as a committee chair and member for thesis and dissertation students. My current academic interests include traditional and online course development and teaching.
When I first began teaching psychology courses online, I received training in online course development and information architecture, which I have applied to creating and teaching courses for Saybrook, Walden, and Alliant Universities. These include courses in research design, professional ethics, family therapy, group counseling and psychotherapy, the psychology of sexuality, and holistic psychology.
I am familiar with the Blackboard, eCollege, and Moodle online learning environments. I am available to develop and teach additional online courses. I can also provide consultation for institutions and individuals who are interested in optimizing their use of the online instructional medium by creating or revising online courses in any subject area.
I have also developed and presented body-emotion-mind-and-spirit awareness workshops designed for students, therapists, and other helping professionals. A deeper awareness of our own experiences of body, emotions, mind, and spirit can help in establishing and maintaining more effective rapport and results in our work with others.
