Healing Tao Meditation
The Healing Tao, also called the Universal Tao, is a gentle and practical system of standing and sitting exercises and meditations based on Chinese Taoism and introduced by Mantak Chia in the West.
Master Chia has written many books on Taoism. He teaches at the Tao Garden retreat center in Thailand, as well as traveling and offering workshops around the world on all aspects of Taoist meditation and practice.
My first introduction to the Healing Tao was in the 1980s when I began studying with Master Chia in San Francisco. Since then, I have had the opportunity to take many courses and workshops from Master Chia, and more recently from American senior Healing Tao teachers Michael Winn and Masahiro Ouchi. I was certified as a Healing Tao instructor by Master Chia in 2005 in San Francisco.
Through the Tao training, you can become more centered and grounded, physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually. You can enhance your overall health and maintain your connection to your inner source of energy and vitality.
The Basic Course includes the following exercises and meditations:
- Qi gong exercises promote a more open, flexible, clear, grounded body. Iron Shirt Qi Gong postures activate the inner force and increase the flow of chi energy in the body.
- The Inner Smile helps to relax your internal organs and spine, and the Six Healing Sounds detoxify and cool your organs, calm and balance your emotions.
- An introduction to the Microcosmic Orbit which circulates the vital energy through the body, and in the process, recycles and transforms it. This movement awakens healing energy and develops concentration and endurance.
Everyone is welcome in the class, whether you are new to the Healing Tao or whether you are already familiar and want to reacquaint yourself with it or to practice what you have in a supportive group environment.
